Will I be sore after my massage?
It is normal to feel soreness after a massage, especially if the treatment has specifically targeted painful, restricted muscles. The soreness can last a couple hours or can sometimes be felt the following day.
Post massage soreness is most likely felt after a deep tissue, remedial or sports massage, these treatments are intended to manipulate challenged muscles. These techniques have been designed to restore the muscle to its natural state, restoring mobility and to stimulate the feeling of relaxation.
What is the difference between remedial and therapeutic massage?
Remedial massage technique is used for an in-depth, longer term targeted approach to massage. This technique is targeted to specific areas in the body that require rehabilitation, providing benefits to a wide range of ailments.
Therapeutic massage on the other hand is intended to be deeply rejuvenating and relaxing. Massage techniques range from variations of Swedish massage, lymphatic drainage or hot-stone.

Is it best to get a massage before or after exercise?
Both! Just depends what for.
Muscle soreness or doms (delayed onset muscle soreness) can be reduced by receiving a massage after exercise. Treatments help reduce inflammation, increase circulation and get your lymphatic and circulatory system moving.
Getting a massage before exercise can help increase flexibility and mobility of muscles by warming the muscles.
Can I claim my remedial massage back on private health?
That depends on your level of insurance cover, please contact your provider directly.
To support your claim from Medibank, we provide you with a tax invoice that includes our Remedial Therapist provider number. If eligible you will be able to use this to claim your refund.
How often should I get a massage?
You may choose to get a message when you feel pain, to relieve stress or to improve muscle endurance, or as a safe place to let go of daily stressors. This could be once or twice a week or whenever you feel like treating yourself. If you are committed to feeling the long-term benefits of massage with less pain, better flexibility and a strong nervous system it is best to come regularly to work through tension areas.
What should I wear to my treatment?
We welcome you to wear any clothes that you like. Loose fitting clothes will be easier to get on and off if it is required for your treatment.
If you are coming from work please think about what you will need to ensure you are comfortable post treatment.
Can receive a massage whilst pregnant?
Yes, massage treatments can be safe right until the second trimester. Please ensure you let your massage therapist know if you are pregnant. We offer specific pregnancy massages also.
