Benefits of an infrared sauna

The infrared sauna is intended to be relaxing and rejuvenating, whilst also allowing you to get the benefits from a traditional sauna on a deeper level. It’s an invisible band in the spectrum of light, intending its radiant light to heal and penetrate the body at a molecular level.

Clearlight TrueWave™️ infrared sauna in Perth City saunas use unmatched full-spectrum technology. The TrueWave full-spectrum is made from grade “A” Canadian cedarwood, with 8mm thick tempered glass. Combined with medical-grade technology, it has been designed to penetrate deep within your body to provide a wide range of benefits.

One of the top health benefits of regularly using an infrared sauna is that it promotes natural detoxification. Whilst being great at helping the body detoxify, it also targets lymphatic, immune, and cardiovascular systems without the intense air temperatures then traditional saunas create.

Some more great benefits of using an infrared sauna include:

  • Immune Boosting – Use of the sauna can raise the body’s temperature by up to three degrees. This heat increase wards off illness, bacteria, and viruses.
  • Skin Rejuvenation – The profuse sweating as a result of spending extended times in the sauna carries off impurities and cleanses the skin, giving an outcome of glowy, youthful-looking skin.
  • Stress & Fatigue Reducing – The sauna has been known to stimulate the autonomic nervous system easing you into a parasympathetic (rest and digest) state, allowing your entire body to completely relax.
  • Weight loss & Increased Metabolism – Regular use of an Infrared sauna can imitate the same positive effects on the cardiovascular system as a high-intensity workout.
  • Increased Circulation– The increase in body temperature dilates the blood vessels increasing blood production and circulation.
  • Joint & Muscle Pain Management – The deep heating of the muscular system generates the delivery of blood and concentrated oxygen to core muscles, giving the body the much-needed help it needs to heal.

To enhance benefits and relaxation, we recommend dilating your blood vessels after your sauna. This could be anything from dry-brushing your skin, performing exercise (one of our yoga classes) or packaging your sauna with one of our massages. These activities will increase your blood circulation which maximises the sauna benefits.

How does infrared technology work?

The Clearlight infrared sauna uses full-spectrum sauna technology, combining carbon and ceramic heaters to produce ‘far’ or ‘true wave heating’. The True Wave full spectrum technology uses a combination of far, near and mid infrared waves, these refer to where the wave falls on the colour light spectrum and have varying effects on the body. Integrating infrared sauna technology with Colour-light therapy allows you to target specific areas of your wellness goals by choosing a specific colour.

How does an infrared sauna differ from a traditional sauna?

Traditional saunas use indirect heat set at temperatures between 80°C to 100°C, which warms the air around you but does not penetrate deep within the skin. In doing so, the sauna environment becomes uncomfortably hot and can make it challenging to breathe in. Our infrared sauna is heated at 62-70°C, much less than the conventional heated sauna. The infrared makes you produce more sweat at lower temperatures. The Infrared technology is proven to penetrate 5cms deep within the body targeting the lymphatic, immune and cardiovascular systems.

About Colour Light Therapy

Chromotherapy, visible-light therapy, or more commonly colour light therapy, is the science that uses the light spectrum to balance and stimulate cells within the body.
The infrared technology can be combined with medical-grade chromotherapy or colour-light therapy for targeted results. This century-old concept has become a valued tool for healing aspects of the body through various colour frequencies to stimulate specific wellness goals.

Here is what you need to know about the light wave spectrum:

Far-infared wave

  • An invisible light wave which can penetrate 2-5cms deep within our body.
  • Generates a light gentle heat
  • Can stimulate cell production and molecular bonds
  • The production of sweat, stimulates the cardiovascular system and lowers systolic and diastolic blood pressure
  • Near-infrared wave
  • The closest lightwave to visible light.
  • Targets cosmetic and visible differences in skin appearance and elasticity.
  • Cosmetic companies use near-infrared light to generate benefits.
  • Some of the ‘near’ lightwave benefits may include collagen production, immunity enhancing, cell regeneration and pain relief.
  • Mid-infrared wave
  • Mid-infrared wavelengths specifically target soft tissue within the body.
  • This wavelength raises the core temperature, which enhances the body’s cardiovascular response system by mimicking the effects of performing light exercise.
  • Stimulates blood flow and circulation
  • What to expect from your infrared sauna experience.

Upon checking in with our Myall staff you will be shown our relaxation area and guided to your private change-room to prepare for your sauna experience. Your private change room and shower will be reserved for you upon your arrival, however, as always we do recommend locking your valuables in one of our lockers provided and keeping the key with you.

In your personal change-room, you will find one plush towel to sit on whilst in the sauna, a plush face towel, a waffle bathrobe (for our immerse sauna package customers), natural-Australian made body-wash, shampoo, conditioner, and moisturiser for post sauna.

When you are relaxed and ready for your experience to begin, you will find complementary herbal teas and spring water in our relaxation area. You can also customise your experience by selecting an essential oil blend.

The infrared sessions are automatically set to detoxification mode but can be personalised to one of the twelve Chromotherapy benefits for one of your chosen wellness goals. Whilst in the sauna you are welcome to use the Bluetooth setting and listen to your choice of music. Alternatively, please discuss with our staff if you would like to choose from one of our relaxation playlists or Myall guided meditations.

Muscles relax best when tissues are warm, for greater flexibility and range of motion. We recommend booking an infrared sauna and massage package which will deepen the healing and restoration of your body.

We advise giving yourself 10 minutes on either side of your sauna experience to allow plenty of time to get changed and letting your body fully rest and relax.

After your sauna experience, you will feel a deep sense of rejuvenation. Enjoy and feel your body restore to its natural balance.

Infrared Sauna Q & As

What are the benefits of an infrared sauna?

The health benefits of using an infrared sauna include:

  • Increased circulation
  • Improved sleep
  • Calming the mind and body
  • Detoxification
  • Sore muscle relief
  • Joint pain relief
  • Clearer, firmer skin

Do infrared saunas detoxify your body?

Infrared waves can be used as a targeted detox channel which will help to reduce the impact that accumulated toxins have on our overall health. The profuse sweating experiences in a sauna extricates accumulated toxins, such as alcohol, mercury, nickel.

How many people can be in the sauna?

The Sanctuary model can fit up to 4 people inside. We recommend 3 people maximum to ensure a comfortable experience for all people.

How often can I use the sauna?

We recommend spending a couple of times a week in the Infrared sauna. Your body will feel rejuvenated and replenished after a session, though for maximum benefits it may take a few sessions to work through toxins at varying levels and for the body to fully acclimate to the experience.

Do infrared saunas really work?

Infrared heat is great for making you sweat. One of the ways we detox the body is through sweating. Most people do not sweat enough – we need to perspire every single day! Every day we’re exposed to toxins and detoxification; sweating is the way in which our body naturally de-activates and eliminates these accumulated toxins.

Do you sweat in an infrared sauna?

Please ensure you are well hydrated before and after your experience, each individual will sweat differently in the sauna. Infrared waves activate warmth at a cellular level, in the first few sessions you may not sweat a lot as the body is working through the toxins.

Are infrared saunas safe?

Infrared saunas are extremely safe, the Clearlight technology is medical grade and has been proved and tested to adhere to all of its safety ratings. One of the biggest concerns with infrared saunas is with the level of EMF’S (electromagnetic frequencies). The Clearlight infrared sauna emits the lowest EMF levels out of all of its competitors. The technology is tested yearly to ensure it withholds the highest safety regulations with the WHO.

The sauna experience was great! It was my first time in one and 30 minutes was perfect. I felt really relaxed afterwards and had a great night’s sleep.
